NEW EKURHULENI METER READING SERVICE PROVIDER TO START WORK IN FEBRUARY
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality would like to apologise to ratepayers for the inconvenience that has been caused as a result of meter reading in the region.
The municipality is in the process of appointing a new water and electricity consumption meter reading service provider following the expiring of the contract with Motla Consulting Engineers on 31 December 2012. As a result of this turn of events, meter reading operations are affected only for the month on January due to the changeover to a new service provider.
“The process of appointing a new service provider started well on time but delays were experienced as due diligence had to be applied on the matter in the light of previous experiences. The municipality will in the next three weeks make an announcement on the appointed service provider,” explains Sam Modiba municipal spokesman.
Modiba says that in the meantime, consumers can still send their readings through to their applicable customer care areas either by phone or by email. “In the case where no such readings have been provided interim readings will apply for billing purposes.”
The municipality appeals to the ratepayers to be patient as the matter is being finalised.
